Stichting Life Below Water brings ocean conservation to Duikvaker 2027

Stichting Life Below Water (LBW) will be at Duikvaker 2027 to inspire divers and water sports enthusiasts — not just to enjoy the underwater world, but to actively protect it.

Life Below Water is dedicated to raising awareness and driving concrete action for the health of our oceans and waterways. Through beach and water clean-ups, guest lectures, educational activities, events and documentaries, LBW demonstrates that everyone can play a part in keeping our underwater world healthy.

From diver to ocean ambassador

Divers share a unique connection with the sea. They witness first-hand what is happening to marine life beneath the surface and regularly come face to face with the effects of pollution, climate change and human activity.

At Duikvaker, Life Below Water challenges visitors to turn their passion for diving into action.

"As divers, we know just how extraordinary the underwater world is. But we are also seeing the impact of human influence more and more. With Life Below Water, we want to link awareness to real solutions. Everyone can do something, and together we can make a real difference."

From clean-ups to documentaries

LBW regularly organises clean-ups where volunteers come together to remove waste from natural environments. The foundation also delivers guest lectures for schools and organisations on topics such as plastic pollution, the ocean, seaweed and the importance of biodiversity.

Life Below Water also tells stories that move people. One key project is the documentary Impact Sardine Run, which centres on the famous Sardine Run in South Africa: what is the impact of human activity, and what can we — wherever in the world we live — do to make a positive contribution?
